Chanette Manso (FR)
I grew up in the streets of San Francisco, then attained degrees in communication and film at the Sorbonne of Paris. France-based multidisciplinary artist, I am a passionate image maker influenced by street art, belly dance, and the dazzling electronic age.
Images of swirling lights taken on a black background become my narrative. I like working in front of the camera as an active player, although not seen. Working in a dark space allows for expressions to emmerge more naturally like dancing with no one watching.
The often sole protagonist is usually played out by myself or by a model, portraying characters from myths, cult movies, or reoccuring archetypes. Having participated in festivals like Burning Man in the late ninties, I was exposed to new forms of creative expression motivated by the spirit of the individual rather than dictated by a social agenda.
Nevertheless, world travel (India, Denmark, Thailand) and my American/French bilingual heritage have enriched my worldview and my connection with diverse audiences.
